What is PRP/PRF?

PRP/PRF is an injectable substance that has numerous medical and cosmetic uses.

Platelets are part of your blood and play a critical role in helping blood to clot when you get an injury. Platelets also contain growth factors, powerful cells that support new cell growth and assist in the healing process.

PRP/PRF therapy involves injecting concentrated doses of platelets into one's tissue to boost your body’s natural collagen production abilities.

PRF is platelet-rich fibrin that can be processed to gel-like solution increasing tissue exposure to the collagen stimulating benefits of PRP and producing plumpness to the injected tissue resulting in a "natural" filler.

Where does PRP/PRF come from?

Michelle prepares PRP/PRF from your blood. She draws a blood sample from your arm and puts it into a centrifuge, which spins around very fast so the constituent parts of the blood separate. She then takes the concentrated platelet solution and injects it back into your body.

PRP/PRF only contains cells from your body, making it a very safe form of treatment with virtually no risk of adverse reactions.

What conditions is PRP/PRF therapy used for?

PRP/PRF is beneficial for healing tissue injuries and wounds, but it also has many cosmetic uses. It can improve the results of treatments like microneedling and help reduce scar tissue and other blemishes. PRP/PRF injections can rejuvenate the skin on your face, neck, and the backs of your hands, and reduce the severity of stretch marks.

Another widespread use of PRP is stimulating hair growth. Hair loss is a problem affecting millions of men and large numbers of women. It can have a severe effect on your confidence and self-esteem, but until now, the only effective way of reversing hair loss was with painful, time-consuming hair plugs.

PRP therapy helps you regrow your hair instead. Injections of PRP into your scalp stimulate dormant hair follicles to start producing new hair, resulting in entirely natural hair restoration.

When will I see the results of my PRP/PRF therapy?

PRP/PRF treatment does produce take time for the complete regeneration process to happen. You should see initial plumpness that will lessen while seeing a gradual improvement in skin texure and laxity which could take 6-8 weeks to reach its peak.

In most cases, you need to undergo a course of PRP/PRF treatments at Luxx Aesthetics & Wellness Medicine to achieve optimal results. The effects of PRP/PRF therapy can last for significantly longer than many temporary cosmetic fixes — even years for some patients.
